Digital Deployment announces new hosting partnership with Pantheon
Customers’ sites to be hosted on world’s leading Drupal hosting platform alongside the ACLU, Clorox, Tesla, Patagonia, and all eight Ivy League Schools
SAN FRANCISCO — Digital Deployment, a full-service website development firm based in Sacramento, California, has announced a new strategic partnership with Pantheon, the world’s leading Drupal website hosting service.
Pantheon currently hosts over 285,000 websites including flagship sites such as Harvard.edu, the American Civil Liberties Union, Patagonia, Coach, United Nations, Quicken Loans, IBM and many more. Pantheon is a distributed, “containerized” Drupal-specific hosting service that runs across the Google Cloud Platform for speed and reliability.
“Reliability is our #1 priority,” said Digital Deployment CEO Mac Clemmens. “Pantheon has an outstanding track record, and it is a known and trusted company that can meet our rigorous uptime and performance requirements. We also know their founders well and have watched their contributions to the open-source community over the past decade with great appreciation and admiration.”
All Digital Deployment customers will also receive a fully integrated Fastly content delivery network (CDN) subscription for rapid content delivery. Fastly is used by the New York Times, Buzzfeed, AirBNB, Kayak, and many other highly popular websites to maintain fast performance during huge waves of traffic and to optimize worldwide delivery speed by using servers located closest to their users’ locations. It also makes it possible to keep the website up if the underlying infrastructure goes down.
“Migrating our portfolio of websites to the Pantheon platform will mark an enormous step forward in our technological capabilities,” said VP of Engineering Cameron Eagans. “Our ability to test and deploy new features and other enhancements rapidly will be greatly improved.”
Reliability is only one of the many benefits that come with the new partnership. Working in close collaboration with Pantheon’s head of product, Digital Deployment’s engineering team was able to deploy specially-designed under-the-hood enhancements, such as custom upstreams for rapid staging and release of software updates and security patches. Also of interest is the new “multidev” capability, allowing organizations to simultaneously test different features using a different copy of its site for each feature being tested. Also, customers will be able to freely spin up test environments for safe experimentation.
“We are pleased to collaborate with the team at Digital Deployment,” said Josh Koenig, Pantheon’s Head of Product. “We are very excited to welcome Digital Deployment’s clientele into the Pantheon ecosystem, and we look forward to developing case studies and co-presenting at conferences.”
Digital Deployment is Sacramento’s largest website development firm thanks to the broad portfolio of institutions that use its technology, including pension systems, universities, cities, hospitals, banks, nonprofits, and Fortune 500s. Unlike most website development firms, Digital Deployment focuses on long-term relationships and provides ongoing updates, training, and support. More than 95% of the customers it had five years ago are still with it today.
