Digital Deployment named ‘Best Place to Work’ by the Business Journal
Award marks 5th consecutive year as regional leader in employee satisfaction
The Sacramento Business Journal announced its 2019 finalists for Best Places to Work in the Greater Sacramento Region, and Digital Deployment was again listed. Last year, Digital Deployment won second place overall in the small business category. In 2015, it won first place.
The award is part of a national Best Places to Work award program that is independently ranked by Quantum Workplaces, a company contracted by the Business Journal to evaluate employee satisfaction based on surveys and other metrics.

Congratulations on 15 years!
Mac founded Digital Deployment in his college dorm room back in 2004. He has led the company in supporting over 500 clients while never letting a team member’s professional and personal growth fall to the wayside.
To thank him, we threw him a surprise work-versary party. Unfortunately, we don’t have a photo of him walking into the room – he was surprised! – but here are a few of the celebration:
Digital Deployment welcomes four new team members
We are expanding to serve you better, and are honored and humbled to have four outstanding experts join our consulting team:
Happy Halloween from Digital Deployment!
2017 costumes
Here at Digital Deployment, we take Halloween seriously! With a few new team members, there were more amazing costumes to vote on for our annual costume contest for those brave enough to participate. And as usual, our spooky snacks didn’t disappoint.
Reflections on meeting FCC Chairman Ajit Pai
A dialog on bridging the digital divide
I was privileged to meet FCC Chairman Ajit Pai to discuss bridging the digital divide and net neutrality. Despite differences in policy, we had a productive dialog. He has a bold plan to expand opportunity and access, and I look forward to holding him accountable, particularly to the needs of smaller businesses like ours.
A new and improved Digital Deployment
You know that saying about the cobbler’s kids being the last to get new shoes? Well, it turns out the same goes for web designers. For the last several years, we’ve been preaching about the importance of modern design principles and the effect they can have on an organization…but we’ve been too busy to apply this advice to our own web presence.
Well, today that has finally changed. By putting ourselves through our own 5 phase process, we now have a modern, meaningful website that we’re proud to share. When you have a moment, take a look at the new digitaldeployment.com and give us your feedback!
We’ve also been expanding our team to better serve you. We’re pleased to welcome three new team members. Dave has joined the dev team as our newest front-end developer, helping to ensure our websites continue to look and function beautifully. Karla has joined our production team as an additional Content Specialist, to help clients with content plans and migration. Heather will be heading the SLA program in the newly-created role of Customer Success Manager, a position dedicated exclusively to supporting and training you—our valued clients. We’re excited to have them join our team!
Summer connectedness on the water
The DD team goes kayaking
We recently decided to lean into the heat and go kayaking on Lake Natoma. We packed up an hour early on a Thursday, drove up to Folsom, and spent a lovely and relaxing evening kayaking and paddleboarding around the lake and under bridges. We’re very lucky that our team likes spending time together, even outside work!
Staff Update
Because "blog posts" are old news
Use the Staff Update post type when writing a post in first person about something that you, or the team, did or accomplished. This type of content is something that we may share on our social media channels, but wouldn’t promote to a news source to republish. These posts are meant to display on the News & Updates term.
When adding a Staff Update post:
- Make the content personal; this is where we can show our clients that we are community minded and fun to work with.
- Include images; give people a visual of how freakin’ cool we are.
- Add two related profiles:
- Category post; current categories are: Conferences, Community, Development, Content Strategy, and Office Shenanigans
- Your staff profile
DD Team Connectedness
Work hard, play hard!
One of the things that makes Digital Deployment one of Sacramento’s Best Places to Work is our focus on culture and team connectedness. We support this with weekly teamwide check-ins, bi-weekly team lunches, and monthly connectedness activities. Each month a different team member is responsible for planning a non-work related activity where we can hang out and be merry.
In case you missed them: five notable updates to your site in 2016
Do you ever wonder what we’re up to behind the scenes? Do you wonder if your ideas for improvements are being implemented? In case you missed them in the monthly update emails, we’ve compiled a list of what you—our clients—told us were some of the most useful features and updates added to your site last year.
A meaningful recognition for our company
Last month, I was extremely honored that Digital Deployment was selected as a Small Business Development Center success story and recognized by two members of Congress: Rep. Doris Matsui and Rep. Ami Bera.
This was all made possible thanks to you—our clients, who have been with us the entire way. You’ve allowed us to thrive in our hometown, remain rooted in our values, and yet reach across the country and rise to the challenge of building great sites for outstanding organizations. Thank you!
SSL and Drupal 8 coming in 2017
It’s the start of a new year and we want to give you an update on two major efforts we have underway to keep your website’s technology performing well in 2017: SSL and a free upgrade to Drupal 8.
Getting inspired at the American Marketing Association Conference for Higher Education
This week we had the opportunity to attend the AMA conference for higher education in Orlando, Florida. As the premier conference for higher education marketing in the country, it was the perfect chance to meet with our clients and partners who are distributed across the country, as well as make new contacts and tune into emerging industry trends.
The characters of Digital Deployment
One of my favorite things about working here are all the characters I get to work with. Around Halloween it gets even better.
